Paul asks 12 disciples in Ephesus an intriguing question - did they receive the Holy Spirit when they believed? As Duncan opens up the question, we see it tells us so much of what we can expect expect of experiencing the Holy Spirit and life in the Holy Spirit.

The intro explained the themes of 'Progress & Joy' in this passage, the passage was read, and the context of earlier news of Paul's imprisonment likely shaking the Philippian church, that they might've been wondering whether this was the end for Christianity and for them. The recording picks up as Duncan is still on v12 - Paul saying emphatically that his imprisonment is not the end, but is 'advancing' the gospel.

Philippians 1.3-11

As Paul celebrates the partnership he has with the Philippians in this passage, we look at how essential gospel partnerships are for us to find community, joy and to know the heart of Jesus. 

LIFE PURSUING JESUS | PHILIPPIANS #1 | DUNCAN BELL

As we begin our Philippians: Life Pursuing Jesus series, we hear how Paul's central idea as he writes to the church in Philippi is that he wants them to imitate him in giving everything to live lives pursuing Jesus above all things.

Jem takes us into Jesus' encounter with a leper. Rejected by society, considered unclean and unworthy, he comes and kneels before a rabbi. We see how Jesus responds by doing the unthinkable and impossible to transform this man, at great cost to himself.

The passage at the end of Colossians 1 might have once been a hymn and it's easy to see how, it is rich with deep descriptions of Jesus and so worth taking some time to dwell in! In a one-off message Duncan talks us through the passage, enjoying the wonders of Jesus all over again!

The big finish at the end of the book of Ruth is...a genealogy! At first glance its not obvious why the story would end this way but Duncan shows us how the author is actually pointing out how this small story has a place in the greatest narrative in history!

THE RIGHT REDEEMER | RUTH #6 | ROBIN COX

Boaz has agreed to marry Ruth, and to care for Naomi, but first he must speak to another redeemer who's responsibility it should be to care for these widows. Robin leads us through the passage showing us that although the other man had the right of redemption, it was the sacrificial care of Boaz which made him the right redeemer.
